The Neue Gallery / Museum for German and Austrian Art. Located in New York City. See www.neuegalerie.org for more information about shows. This is an amazing old building that has a collection of my favorites like Egon Schiele and Gustov Klimt to name a few.
Philadelphia Museum of Art. Located in Philadelphia, PA this is my long time favorite. A member for many years I visited daily to see paintings and sculptures when living in Philly. Great collection of Modigliani, Brancusi and my favorite Van Gogh, Wheat field in Rain, 1889. For more information go to www.philamuseum.org.
The Barnes Foundation. Located in Marion County just outside of Philadelphia, PA. This is the best private collection of art that I have ever seen. It is amazing how many great pieces you will find in this intimate gallery. Go to see it soon or you will miss the charm of the old building it is housed in. They plan to move it to down town Philly within the next few years. Go to www.barnesfoundation.org for more information about going there. You must set up time and date of visit to see this. I will not go into it further because it will make me upset. There is an ugly history about what is going on with Dr Barnes' Trust and Estate.
The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Located in Washington, DC. See www.hershhorn.si.edu for more information about shows and events. This is a very modern and abstract type of museum. The majority of their pieces are unique and challenging to what most people think of as art. .
LACMA / Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Located in Los Angeles, California. See www.lacma.org for more information about shows. This museum has recently been renovated to house one of the best collections in the world. It is filled with donations from The Hearst family and has a very large range of styles and periods.
Norton Simon Museum of Art. Located in Pasadena California. See www.nortonsimon.org for more information about shows. This museum has many Rodin Sculptures and Indian cultural statues. There is a large collection of Impressionism and one of the largest groupings of Rembrandt paintings.
